Droids

From Star Wars - Dark Horizon's MUSH

Jump to: navigation, search

The droids on this MUSH are considered Non-Player Characters (NPCs) largely because they are robots designed to perform mundane tasks that require little sentient supervision. Their programming is straight forward, requires no test of morals, and can be performed repeatedly with precision. That is not to say that there are not droids programmed to have distinct personalities, but such additions are usually the source of major malfuctions and are installed using "home made" parts after manufacture.

[edit] Types of Droids

There are many types of droids available for purchase. All droids are owned by a player: there are no player character droids. Droids are played by their owners as a 'puppet'.

In addition to being nearly sentient automata, droids have certain traits for the coded system of the MUSH built into them, allowing them to serve a useful purpose.

There are five types of droids in this game:

  • Astromech - Computer interfacing and mechanical repair.
  • Battle - Attack or defense.
  • Medical - Healing wounds and disease.
  • Probe - Reconiassance, monitoring, scanning. (Currently not in.)
  • Protocol - Etiquette, translation, simple labor.
  • Loadlifter - Carrying that which you cannot.

For more information, see 'news <droid-type>'

[edit] Droid Commands

Currently, these are the commands available for droids:

  • +COMMAND <droid>=follow, will set the droid to follow you.
  • +REPAIR <droid>, if you have suitable components (droid parts).
  • +LOAD/UNLOAD <droid>=<number> <item>, to load and unload objects onto a Loadlifter droid (available only for Loadlifters).
  • +COMMAND <droid>=report, will display the items carried by Loadlifters (available only for Loadlifters)

Droids automatically assist you if they are in the same room as you and are under your +control.

Like players, droids can take environmental damage, but unlike players, cannot be equipped with survival gear. Plan ahead before taking your droid into swamps in search of reclusive Jedi masters.
